Heads Carolina...Tails California: What A Week......This week's email....October 14, 2013

hola familia!

what a week! it wasnt bad! we just met a ton of.....interesting....people. and had a few interesting encounters with people. it's all good....they make good stories.

lets see. we had this investigator named g. they started teaching her before i got here. if you are like two seconds late, she gets her grandson to go to the door to tell us she's in the bathroom. we had this appointment, and we were a little late. when we go to ring the doorbell we could hear them, and when we ring it....dead silent. we have this thing where we knock three times (once for their salvation, once for our salvation, and once for how attractive our future husband will be haha.... .:) dont worry dad thats a joke) and while we were knocking, we could hear them laughing inside. so she was hiding, and she was getting her grandkids to hide.

we also have been trying to look for this other investigator. one time when we knocked last week, this lady came running out from the corner and yelled "no one's here" in spanish. she scared us half to death. and then we came back this week and we knocked twice, and then she knocks back....well she practically knocked the door down. she yelled through the door "QUIEN?!" ("WHO?!" who is it?!!)

also, this week, we knocked on a door, and we heard them quietly and slowly lock the door. i guess no one was home haha.

BUT in spite of all this, we have these two really great investigators! e. and m.a.! they have a baptismal date for november 2 and they really want to be baptized! and we met with e. after church yesterday!! sweet!!!!!!

also, we had a lesson with a. he's doing well!!!! interestingly enough, we're helping understand prayer better because prayer is very unfamiliar to him.

also, crazy story!!! we were talking to this girl, and this dog comes up to us...a black lab. and it wouldnt leave. then a lady drives up and said it just got hit by a car!! she saw the whole thing and she said it got hit pretty bad and then after that it ran to the street we were on! after we were done talking to the girl, hermana parrish picks up the dog and carries it about 20 feet under a street light because it was dark, and we wait with the lady who is calling animal control, and we pet it/keep it calm/comfort it. it was a really sweet dog and we could tell it was in a lot of pain. :( and animal control came about 45 minutes later. there was also this girl and her friend who stopped by. the friend was like "is it okay??" and then the other girl was like "it just got hit by a car!" and then the other girl was like "well i got hit by a car too and i lived." and then the other girl was like "yeah, but it hurt? didnt it?" and then the other girl was like "yeah it did." Crazy story!!!!!

also, CA has crazy, creepy spiders!! i've never seen any like this before.

and the people here decorate for halloween...like..its a regular thing. i've never seen so many zombies in my life, haha.

also, yesterday i gave the opening prayer in sac mtg, which is in spanish. and yesterday we met a guy who gave us a rose because we're nice girls.

also, i've been using some of my college appreciation days skills this week! i'll snail mail about that!

and thank you jennifer and chris for the shirt and CTR ring!!! i love both!!
