Hey family!
This week has been really good! We've found a few people that really need the gospel, and that we happened to be in the right place at the right time. We met A. this week. She is going through a lot with her family and with work, and she really needs peace in her life. She's met with missionaries before. and we were able to invite her to church and we talked a lot about the peace she can have in her life by attending church. We also met A. We knocked at her door, and no one answered, so we went to a door across from her, and while we were there, she came out and invited us in. She told us that she met with missionaries about ten years ago in Arkansas, and she had a really good friend who was a member who she would go to church with. And then she started telling us about all that is going on in her life and with her daughter and ex-husband. She also told us that she was grateful that we came to her door because she had been praying for help. It was a really neat experience to have...to be an answer to someones prayer. We listened a lot, and we helped her to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are aware of all that she is going through and that They love her. Both of these ladies only speak english, so we had to refer them to the english missionaries, but we're all on the same team and it feels great when you have a great referral to give to another set of missionaries.
We also met a man named G. this week. He was a former investigator and he told us he really liked meeting with the missionaries. He really likes the Book of Mormon and he sees it as another testament of Jesus Christ, he just has a problem with latter day prophets. He's really willing to learn, and we are excited to start teaching him.
We've also received some really great referrals from members. One is the L. family. The bishops wife in the english ward told us about them. They're a less active family. We were able to find out more about them yesterday during ward correlation. We met one of their daughters, and we are still trying to meet the parents/entire family. A member of the branch also referred this man named J. to us. He's gone through a lot. His wife died recently and then he moved here. He really wants to learn about the gospel and he came to church yesterday and really enjoyed it. We were able to set up an appointment for next Sunday.
And Saturday! It was AWESOME!! I drove, it wasn't too bad. It was over 300 miles, going there and back. We got to drive by the beach, too. I miss the beach a TON. But anyway, we got to hear from Elder Garns and his wife, Elder Bowen and his wife, and Sister Nelson and then Elder Nelson. Elder Nelson did a Q&A and it was really cool! I didn't ask any questions, but the other missionaries that did had really good questions. One missionary asked how we can find balance in missionary life, and he said that it's something that everyone works on in life. He compared balancing to a plane (it'd be funny if that came from President Uchtdorf..haha) and that one wing is family life and one wing is work life (or any other demands we may have in life). He said sometimes one wing is above the other, whether its being more focused on your family and less on work, or more focused on work and less on family. Sometimes it happens, but there are ways to find balance. He said that the best way to find balance is by anchoring yourself to the gospel (it reminded me of Pres. Uchtdorf's talk in the April 2014 ensign). Someone also asked how he learns more about Christ. He gave two suggestions. He said to do what Christ said and "take my yoke upon you" and then he said to go to the topical guide, under "Jesus Christ," and study the subtitles listed. I thought that was really neat because it was something I had been wondering about.
Elder Nelson is also really funny. He has a really great sense of humor. He also is a lot older looking in person. Oh we all got to shake hands with him!!! He knew how to pronounce my name, too! (A lot of people can't say "Rubow." They throw in an "i" and say "Rubio." And then they ask how its said, and I tell them, and then they say "ohh, just like its spelled." haha.)
But anyway, its been a great week! Oh and next transfer is a 5 week transfer, and then it will be a 7 week transfer. and then I have a 6 week transfer. and then I'm home. weird.
thanks for all y'all do!! I love yall!
Love
