hola!!!! so my email is a little earlier than usual! hermana fitzpatrick and i got up at 3:30 to do laundry! haha YOLO (mom note: you only live once) in the MTC! but guess what!!!! we get an hour to email AND we get to email family!!! and I think friends?!
and for the package, please send it to the mission home when i get there instead of waiting until later.
i get letters every week! which is so awesome! (oh, thank you grant, garrett, ben, and collin for the letters!!!!!! and the other people that wrote too!!! :) i'm gonna write back to as many as i can!)
things i need: did you know it snows here in APRIL?!?! and it gets muy frio. could you send my byui sweatshirt. oh and i did find the other perfumes. but i still wear the happy one. could you also send my orange curve and aeropostale perfume? I'm my dad's daughter... :) gotta smell good! i'm pretty sure they're in the small brown box in my closet, but if not then it's no big deal. can you also send those make up remover towelette things. any brand, just cheap.
also this week for devotional we got to hear from richard g. scott!!!! what he said was exactly what our district needed to hear! he then gave the whole MTC an apostolic blessing!!!!!! he blessed us that are learning a language that we will be able to master it, etc! it was really neat!!!!
so sometimes i feel like my emails are really random. i'm trying to make sure they make more sense, but here are some random things about life/ MTC. the food here has way too much pepper! like so much, your mouth is gonna fall off. and dinner the next day seems to be made out of what they didn't use the day before. i get that recycling is good and all, but let's just keep it to newspaper, plastic bottles, and glass bottles. haha. oh and my luggage came! i'm gonna send home my sticky luggage home today. i talked with the mail people yesterday and they said it should be like 20 dollars, mas o menos. also breakfast kind of sucks too. we all look forward to when we can make our own food. i think i've lost about 10 pounds. breakfast usually consists of a water bottle, a banana and chocolate milk. i know it sounds sad, but we eat like 4 hours later so i'm fine!
the language is coming. i can say more than i could the first day, but i still have a lot to learn. one thing that is frustrating is when you totally invite the spirit with your investigator who is your teacher so they know english (but they're in investigator mode, so they only know espanol), but you say things in english and you know in real life they know what you said, but at that moment "no comprendo." haha did that make any sense?!
the very best part of the MTC. the spirit here. when we have TRC (we teach volunteer members who act as investigators. when you have it in the morning like we do, you get old people. they rock! yay old people!!!!) the thompsons are one of our investigator couples. brother thompson told our teacher how his wife has dementia and she only remember who she is, how to speak spanish, and that she loves her husband at the MTC. outside of the MTC, she doesn't remember these things. incredible, right?!?! i love them!
i get little moments where i feel the spirit. sometimes its with singing like on sunday or at devotional, or reading my patriarchal blessing, or at devotional or things like that. i remember feeling it strongly while singing "nearer my God to thee" at one of our devotionals (not in the choir) and by the last verse i couldn't even sing it. i was close to crying because i felt the spirit that strongly.
i've been homesick a few times, last week at the temple when you weren't there to tell me how pretty i looked (d'awwwww haha). and once when we were showing each other our family pictures. but we're typically too busy to get homesick. i'm glad that isn't a problem i have to deal with.
oh i did get your last package!!! grassy donkey!! (haha some of the people in my district have started saying that!!!! yesss!!!!)
each day i'm just happy. i don't know what i really do. we laugh a lot as a district as well.
the first time i asked for a blessing, it was a really rough day. i felt like i couldn't do this and it was really hard. (no one really tells you how hard it is, but i knew it would be hard. but even though it's hard, it's all SO worth it. and it's nowhere near as hard as suffering for every person that has ever existed and ever will exist...jesus took care of that!). anyway, that day was rough because when we met with our investigator, i pretty much forgot everything spanish. as soon as i sat down, i wanted to get up and leave. (i think i either wrote about this in a letter or email last week?) but after i got a blessing, everything was a thousand times better!
oh and guess what time it is!!! quote time!!!
-"you only have one speed and that's 110%" "i don't have overdrive, coach!" (elder james talking about what his football coach said one time"
-"sometimes when i get angry like that, i tap dance"
-"to solve all your problems, just lick their eyebrows"
-we show love for others by what we do when we're not with them
-"you're a romance language!" (in a condescending tone haha)
-"look at gehoski, we're skinny today!" one of our teachers said this to elder gehoski when they were both wearing skinny ties
talk to y'all soon and see y'all next september!!!
love y'all!
love,
hermana rubow! :)
