Paso Robles and Urgent Care...It's Been a Whirlwind of a Week!! ,,,,,March 3, 2014

whew!!!! this week has been a whirlwind of everything!!!! but its been really great!!!!! Paso is fantastic and I'm soooooo excited to work with Hermana Corniea. its definitely been an adjustment getting used to a new area etc. The drive up here was nice-about 2.5 hours and we rode with a member. I'll be honest, its weird being this far away. It makes you feel like you're in a different mission. But it's great up here!

We have this investigator named N. She has met with Jehovah's Witnesses before, and one thing she liked is that they don't celebrate holidays, etc. She likes what we teach, but because of what she learned before, celebrating holidays, etc is a big deal for her because she feels like they are bad. She wants to know where it says in the bible that holidays are okay. We tried looking for doctrine about this in the scriptures, or an example of someone celebrating something, but we didn't find too much. We shared how God loves us and wants us to be happy, so it's okay to celebrate as long as we remember to obey the commandments at the same time. We also focused a little on prayer and how we can always turn to God for answers, and He'll answer. Also that things that are important to us are important to Him. We invited her to pray about this every day until our next appointment on Tuesday and she said she would.

We also had a lesson with an investigator, M. We explained our purpose here, and we shared 2 Nephi 31:20-21 and talked about enduring to the end and how this gospel can help her. She seems really interested in learning and we're going to have a church tour with her this week so she can be more familiar with it.

And my thumb!  So Monday last week my right thumb started hurting. And it hasn't gone away. It's not like it hurts all the time, but it hurts A LOT when I bump it into things. And next to the nail on the left side is this piece of skin. It looks like it could be a wart---shape wise. But its not. We called Sister Castro and she told us to go to urgent care (I used our families insurance) on Saturday. $35 dollars later and an hour of waiting, we found it that it may possibly be "pyogenic granuloma." (a fancy word for a weird skin thing that hurts really bad when you hit your thumb against things. and it bleeds easily) And it has to be removed. So we made an appointment with a doctor for tomorrow to get it removed.  Oh and the $35 dollars also got me 1/16 of a teaspoon of neosporin and a band aid. but it was a good band aid. nice, soft, it stuck. :) oh and we may have snagged purple gloves from the room :) shhhhh..... haha. So that's what I had to go to urgent care for. never a dull moment. I'll let you know next week how the removal went. :)

and my release date will be around september 22
